RID UK: UPS & Drives Recycling

RID UK treats all drives on the basis that the electrolytic capacitors within the drive contain dimethylformamide (DMF), dimethyl acetamide (DMAC). These capacitors are removed and placed with other capacitors that may contain Polychlorinated Naphthalenes (PCN's) and PolyChlorinated Biphenyls (PCB's). All capacitors are therefore removed and sent for specialist incineration to destroy the hazardous/toxic chemicals.

Due to the lead acid batteries contained in most UPS equipment, end of life UPS are classified as hazardous waste and require removal by a licensed waste carrier with a hazardous waste consignment note.

If you are a UPS manufacturer or service/installation company with numerous UPS machines to dispose of or you have UPS equipment which forms part of mixed end of life IT equipment, please contact us to discuss removal and recycling.

RID UK Manually disassembles UPS equipment and ensures appropriate treatment of all materials. A duty of care waste transfer note is issued for each shipment and a full material breakdown is available through our materials audit.
