| May 2005: EUP Directive |
Once the dust settles on WEEE and RoHS the next major piece of legislation is the EUP Directive. This promotes eco design and RID have linked up with ECO3 to promote this issue and offer a service to our clients. This is based on designers and recyclers working together to see how to disassemble products and use these principles at the design stage to improve the environmental performance of the product.

| May 2004: ICER Accreditation |

The services offered by RID UK have independently been audited by the Industry Council For Electronic Equipment Recycling ICER, with accreditation being awarded for the processes and procedures adopted when disassembling and recycling industrial electrical and electronic equipment.
The ICER accreditation scheme offers producers and end users the reassurance that the chosen recycler can demonstrate that treatment and recycling have been carried out in accordance with the WEEE directive and that the appropriate recovery and recycling targets have been met.
The ICER scheme is voluntary and open to all recyclers and refurbishes – commercial or community sector – who can demonstrate that they operate to high standards of environmental performance. |

| August 2003: RID UK Ltd achieves ISO14001 accreditation |
| RID UK Ltd has achieved accreditation to ISO14001:1996 for it's environmental Management system. The EMS system has meant that we have considered the environmental impact at all stages of the process. It has resulted in the addition of new recycling routes for Fluorescent Tubes and a commitment to store current material to look for recycling routes instead of treating it as general waste. The EMS also ensures we only use recognised sub contractors and that alternative routes are considered that may be more environmentally friendly. |
